When starting a business one of the first things you should do is work on your branding. Branding, by definition, is the promoting of a product or service by identifying it with a particular brand. Branding helps to identify what you sell, who you are, and distinguish it from other products and services.

Most people think branding is just a logo but it’s so much more than that! Branding entails everything you do or say as a business (even if your business is just you). Think about it, everything that you put out that helps a customer or potential customer (or anyone for that matter) form an impression of your business is your ‘brand’.

I always say that your branding is your business’s first impression to a potential customer. That’s the first thing they see when you hand them a business card, go to your website, or even visit your facebook page. Your brand is the public face of your business and carries its personality. Every single element of your business helps to build your brand– from your business cards and social media profile image, to the way you package products or the custom t-shirt you are wearing for a business event. Your brand should be a true representation of who you are as a business, and how you wish to be perceived.
